Item Description

A wonderful matrix specimen featuring good sized, sharp, translucent, well-formed, off-white colored crystals of Colemanite from the Furnace District in Death Valley, California. The label accompanying the piece calls this specimen a "bow tie"-shaped group. Good condition all around, despite one group of contacted crystals on one end. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds (#RR0698). Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
