Item Description

Striking large sharp, translucent parallel-growth flattened colemanite spearpoints with satin lustre dominate the crest of this impressive, very rich large sawed specimen from the well-known Type Locality area of this borate species. The tan blades reach about 6.5. cm. The large spearpoints are pristine and the two spots of bruising in the smaller crystal field are certainly only a modest detraction. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. This classic, rich and showy large colemanite was probably collected by Jim Minette or Al Ordway in the 1960s or 1970s.
