Item Description

A fantastic matrix specimen of very lustrous, sharp, gemmy to translucent, well-formed, white to colorless bladed crystals of Colemanite from California. The crystals measure up to 2.0 cm. The label accompanying the piece states that there is Calcite on the specimen, but I can't really see it. Superb condition all around, as the piece is nearly a complete "floater", with only a tiny point of attachment on the base. You rarely see Colemanite specimens with crystals of such fine quality. Valued at $950 in the inventory. Ex Rich Kosnar Collection (1946-2007). Rich was a very well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, and the namesake for the phosphate species, Kosnarite.
