Item Description

Garnet is a group name for many different species, but typically in the gem world, they are often labeled only as "Garnet". These stones are incredibly popular in among collectors, dealers and jewelers because they occur in virtually every color of the rainbow, but some of the most highly sought after and attractive Garnets out there are the rare color change gems from East Africa. This material is probably a mix of two or more Garnet species, as testing is showing that they very few of them are purely a single species. The gem has an eye-catching light golden color in sunlight, and changes to more of what I could best describe as a cognac-mauve color under halogen lighting. This color change is very difficult to find in most gemstones. The cut on this stone is an "Oval Brilliant" cut, and the gem is virtually eye clean. A highly valued and rare gem on the market today.
