Item Description

An old-time, rare and very showy calcite specimen from Washington County, Missouri, that definitely predates (by its label) discovery of the famous Viburnum Trend lead-zinc mines in the 1950 and 60s. The two large, translucent rhombs, aethetically stacked on matrix, are distinctively color-zoned, honey-brown in their interiors. The lustrous rhombs have partially stepped-growth faces. The two display views are nearly pristine, with only very trivial edgewear noted, which is certainly not a detraction. Ex George Feist Collection # 2696 and comes with an old Lazard Cahn label dating from 1915-1940. Valued at $400-500 for age, rarity and quality.
