Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Copper / Silver amalgums from the Cashin Mine in southwestern Colorado. This locality dates back to the late 1890s, and produced nearly two million pounds of Copper during its lifetime, though specimens are fairly obscure on the market. The specimens are rarely crystallized (mostly crystalline) and this piece is a good example of said material with a mix of Copper and Silver to create a beautiful blend. The piece has a fine antique patina and good form. It's not just a "lump" like several I've seen from the locality. A great piece for a native element collector, a Colorado collector or somebody who likes minerals from the United States. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#543). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). A beautiful micro specimen of this obscure material.
