Item Description

Copper specimens of this high quality are extremely rare from the historic Carn Brea Mine of Cornwall. This aesthetic, dentritic, floater specimen consists of very sharp spinel-twins, tetrahexahedral and even a few rare cubic crystals. The patina is rich and variable and includes some iridescent crystals. The striking, long spinel-twin with the two, 1 mm flattened cubes at the tip is 3.0 cm. The piece looks fabulous frome either side. This superb old-timer has an excellent provenance. Ex Charles Pennypacker Collection (1845-1911) - with his handwritten label. He was a well-known contemporary of Bement, Roebling, Jefferis, Vaux and Canfield. Also ex Dearborn, Scalisi and Borden Collections. Valued at $1200
