Item Description

In the mineral world, Michigan is best known for its amazing crystallized Copper specimens. Here is a fine example of a well-crystallized, display Copper specimen from this historic and classic mining districts. This piece features several, sharp, well-formed dodecahedral crystals of Copper measuring up to 1.6 cm with minor associated Calcite and Malachite on the surface. The dodecahedron at the top of the piece is a textbook euhedral crystal with supreme form. The entire piece has a wonderful old antique patina on the surface, which is one of the most desirable aspects of Michigan Coppers. While this native element is known from thousands of localities around the world, fine crystals like those seen on this pieces are rare. From the collection of Lee B. Burnett of Morrison, Colorado (Specimen #LB 179), with another label from Hansen's Hut that states it was part of the collection of Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Specimen weight is 249.6 grams. The piece is priced at $4,500 in our inventory.
