The famous Franklin Mine has produced some of the very best Copper Country copper in calcite specimens and this is an outstanding example. The sharp, glassy, well-striated and pristine scalenohedrons, to 2.7, are richly included with very bright copper and are aesthetically clustered atop the mounded matrix of hackly copper peppered with complimentary green epidote. This very fine, old-timer looks great from either side. Ex Scott Williams Collection (his label dates to the 1990s?). The $1000 price on the label is from when the collection sold in the 1990s. Valued today in this fine quality at $2000. Certainly one of the most sought-after calcite varietals in the world.
