Item Description

This is a large and heavily included Calcite crystal, with minute bits of lustrous Copper giving the Calcite a rich Copper color. In fact, the Calcite is so gemmy that you can easily see the reflections off the bright native Copper inside. Save for the Copper contacts, the Calcite is in excellent condition, with a smooth, glassy luster and a twinned termination. Copper included Calcite from Michigan's historic Copper Country is a highly desired combo. It is not unique to Michigan per se, but this is nevertheless where the best specimens come from. Came from, rather...mostly in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Specimens of this size, preserved in such condition, are uncommon today. This is a quality, aesthetic display piece simply on its own merits, history and rarity aside. Originally priced at $950 nearly 20 years ago, this is worth at least $2000 today. It is big and showy and has excellent color.
