Item Description

The famous Gypsum specimens included with Native Copper from the Mission Mine (about 40 miles southwest of Tucson) are some of the most iconic mineral specimens from Arizona. These unique pieces are not only distinctive, but to the best of my knowledge, singular in the mineral world in terms of their form and appearance (only a few specimens from China from a small mine in Guangxi come close, but are different). This specimen features a colorless, gemmy crystal section of Gypsum (Selenite) and with some backlighting you will see brilliant reddish to brown dendritic growths of Native Copper floating within! Now the piece is not 100% pristine, but it's still an interesting and unique specimen for any fan of Arizona minerals or "inclusion" minerals. From the worldwide collection of Rich Kosnar, well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado, who was the namesake for the phosphate species Kosnarite.
