Item Description

A very sculptural and rare flattened old-time copper combination from famous Ajo. The intergrown euhedral to subhedral spinel-twins show a striking dancer in two views with outstretched arms wearing a voluminous shirt. Rare patches of tiny primary needle and bladed malachite crystals add real pizzazz to this aesthetic and uncommon specimen. Old-time material from the Kay Robertson Collection # 567 and acquired in the early 1950s or earlier, during active mining at Ajo. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
