Item Description

Speaking of covellite, Butte, Montana gets most of the attention when it comes to specimens from the USA. Most people don't realize that perhaps the largest and finest Covellites were actually found in Summitville, Colorado. This showy and sculptural specimen is a very good reference piece of covellite featuring a nifty, well-placed, 2.5 x 2.3 cm vug lined with classic, bladed crystals. The blades have the distinctive iridescent blue-purple hue for the species. A Colorado classic of excellent quality. A complete undamaged covellite-lined vug is actually quite rare from Summitville. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
