Item Description

One of the "older" Creedites from the Rodeo Mine featuring dozens of small but very sharp, rather lustrous, GEM/gemmy, colorless to nearly black (iron-stained) crystals on matrix. The newer pieces from this mine have the characteristic orange hue, sometimes associated with greenish-blue Fluorite, but the old ones are some of the most beloved Creedites around. This specie is actually named after the town of Creede in Colorado, where it was first discovered, but other world discoveries later were much more significant, so people don't associate this species with Colorado often. This piece is quite beautiful with the simple two-tone coloration, and looks great under magnification as you can see from the micro photos. From the Harold Urish Collection.
