Item Description

I think this is the first piece of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions. Purple is certainly the most desirable hue for Creedite, but good crystallized specimens are certainly few and far between from any world locality. The crystals on this specimen measure up to about 6 mm, but they still show a good saturated purple color despite the smaller size. They are quite sharp, lustrous and gemmy when viewed up close. Very good quality for the locality, which is one of only about 20 places in the United States where the species is found. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10572). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
