Item Description

Old-time, rich, showy and rare combination material from the famous old Berezovsk gold mines, Type Locality for both Crocoite and Vauquelinite, a rare compound Pb-Cu-Cr phosphate. Classic bright orange-red crocoite lathes, to 6 mm, are richly concentrated on the large triangular, layered gossan matrix. Scattered vugs of sparkly pistachio-green vauquelinite microcrystals are noted on all sides of the piece. The fantastic 1.0 cm vug lined with crystals next to the crocoites is remarkable. And the front and back host patches of tiny yellow-green, hexagonal pyromorphite crystals. This is a RICH Vauquelinite specimen. A noteworthy and RARE old combination from Berezovsk, the first and oldest gold mining area in Russia. Valued at $750-1000.
