Item Description

A showy and rich old-time combination with two Type Locality species from the Berezovsk deposit of the Urals, the oldest gold mining area of Russia (1747). Lustrous, translucent, orange-red Crocoite sections, to 8 mm, line two vugs (largest is 3.5 cm) in the blocky small cabinet limonite matrix. Two large crusts (to 5.2 cm) of sparkly pistachio-green Vauquelinite microcrystals (a rare Pb-Cu-chromate-phosphate) richly cover two sides of the matrix. See the 2016 Mineralogical Record article in Vol. 47, No. 4. Ex Philadelphia Academy of Sciences Collection. Classic old-time combination material from the Berezovsk deposit with a fine provenance.
