Item Description

An impressive and excellent large two-sided combination piece from the 1960s find at the famous Morro Velho Gold Mine, Nova Lima, Brazil. Highly lustrous and translucent, light gray dolomite rhombs cover all sides of the sculptural matrix. Bright, brassy, tabular crystals of cubanite and pyrrhotite are festooned on both sides and are nicely accompanied with glassy, honey-yellow siderite rhombs and a few quartz points. The larger hexagonal crystals are pyrrhotites and many of the smaller crystals are cubanites. The top of the rib is pristine and the modest periphery wear on both sides certainly has only minimal impact to this very fine large combination. Ex. Matioli Collection.
