Item Description

Natural pearls are often quite valuable, as they are rare and typically not easy to find in larger sizes. The demand for more pearls by consumers led to the creation of cultured pearls, which are created when a farmed mollusk is implanted with small particulate in the mantle tissue. This process is called nucleation, and it creates the "seed" upon which a pearl can be formed. After the tissue has been inserted, the organism will start to form a sac around it, then it will secrete nacre (calcium-carbonate), in even layers, forming a pearl. This is a beautiful example of said material with a perfectly round form, and a gentle pink iridescence on the surface. Fine quality all around, and that color is very eye-catching.
