Item Description

The famed Mashamba West Mine is one of the world’s great localities for Cuprite, and sadly no longer producing specimens. This excellent small cabinet specimen dates back to the 1970s and features many excellent, sharp, well-formed, octahedral crystals measuring up to about 2.0 cm, with a bit of attached matrix. The amount of crystals, combined with the superior size and quality makes this a very desirable and attractive specimen, especially because the crystals have such a pleasing arrangement, and aren't just an intergrown "lump". The crystals are also rather smooth and well-formed, with no etching or pitting. Virtually all of the Cuprite crystals exhibit intense fiery red hues when backlit. Valued $3,500.
