Item Description

In my experience, it has been quite rare to find specimens of Chalcotrichite (the acicular variety of Cuprite) from the New Cornelia Mine in Ajo, Arizona. This particular piece features a beautiful acicular matted group of somewhat chatoyant, glowing red color, "hair"-like crystals of Chalcotrichite associated with minor Quartz in a vug on matrix. Some of the Quartz crystals have Chalcotrichite inclusions upon close inspection. A cool locality specimen from this well-known Arizona locale. The little crystals are best seen under magnification, and we've photographed them with a macro lens to better illustrate the quality.
