Danburite w/ Calcite w/ Quartz coating (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

This large danburite is a Charcas classic, yet it is also quite unusual. The glassy crystal has typical form and a sharp gem termination area. The richly coated back is the unusual aspect. There are several generations of calcite present: some glassy, colorless scalenohedrons and rhombs; tiny, amber rhombs; and mostly, quartz-covered calcite scalenohedrons. There is even a tiny, water-clear, gypsum crystal at the base. Very uncommon and showy material from this famous locale. Ex Howard Belsky Collection.
