Item Description

An extra fine and very showy polished datolite nodule from Michigan's famous Copper Country. The polished front has high luster, a nice porcelain texture and, especially interesting, the dark red interior is the result of a rich amount of copper inclusions. Red and yellow are THE most desirable colors for Michigan datolite nodules and this one really has the red! Although small, the quality is off the charts on this little nodule. This excellent nodule comes from recent finds at the dumps of the Clark Mine, which operated sporadically from 1853 to 1901. The dumps have yielded very fine specimens of datolite, prehnite, cuprite, and analcime.
