Item Description

Dawsonite is a rare low temperature hydrothermal hydroxyl complex carbonate first described from Canada in 1874. It is a signature species from this well-known deposit at Terlano. A rich dense jackstraw nest of glassy acicular crystals, to a large 1.8 cm, fills a well-placed vug in scuptural matrix. Ex Dr. Francesco Bedogne Collection. Dr. Bedogne, 1942-2012, was a well-known Italian mineralogist, prolific author, field collector and collector. Read his biography in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive: http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=118. A very rich example of the species and locale.
