Item Description

These rare alluvial diamonds, deposited in conglomerates over time, are the reason this region of Brazil was named after an old-time diamond rush! SELDOM are such specimens preserved, for obvious reasons! A 4 mm, gem, glassy, stepped-growth octahedron is nicely nestled in the sculptural, poorly sorted ironstone pebble conglomerate from the famous Diamantina River of Minas Gerais. The large pebble is 1.7 cm. For overall aesthetics, this is a good one. These came out of Brazil 40-50 years ago. Valued at $1200-1500 based on others around at shows, sometimes. From the Matioli collection of Brazilian rare species..
