Mangan-diaspore is the RARE Mn-rich variety of diaspore found in only two localities world-wide, both in the manganese fields of South Africa. Densely intergrown jackstraw clusters of lustrous rose-red and reddish-brown lathes compose this very showy and solid example of this very rare varietal. Old-time material and seldom on the market from this locale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5703. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
