Item Description

A classic and exceptionally well formed thumbnail diopside crystal has lustrous prism faces and a matte termination from this noted Quebec locale. The color is a light straw-yellow. The termination and portions of the sides are translucent/gemmy, which is uncommon to the species and locale. At one time, crystals of this material were fairly plentiful, but specimens are now seldom on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5748 and acquired from George Bideaux at the 1971 Tucson Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Comes with two older labels in French. A choice diopside thumbnail.
