Item Description

The Jeffrey Mine is obviously well-known for its amazing Grossular and Vesuvianite specimens, but it doesn't get enough credit for providing colletors with some of attractive Diopside specimens. This piece features sharp, prismatic, silvery-green color crystals of Diopside in a beautiful "spray". Some of the Diopsides have a silky / chatoyant appearance on the surface. If you've ever wanted a nice display specimen of Jeffrey Diopside, don't miss out on this one. It's around 50 years old, certainly not from any recent mining. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The specimen come with one of his classic typed labels on the bottom of "Perky" box.
