Diopside with Grossular Garnet (var: Hessonite)

One of the great Italian Alpine classics are the fantastic Diopside and Grossular Garnet combos. The mixture of orange to red Garnet crystals with green Diopside and Clinochlore make for some gorgeous specimens. This piece is a lovely small cabinet display specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, prismatic, pale green colored Diopside crystals measuring up to 1.9 cm associated with tiny sharp, lustrous, gemmy, cinnamon-orange colored Grossular (var: Hessonite) crystals with small distinct, rich green colored bladed crystal groups of Clinochlore ("Chlorite") on matrix. There is some damage, so the piece isn't pristine, but it's still a pretty example of this famous material.
