Item Description
Scattered crystals of glassy and gemmy, intense green dioptase, to 1.3 cm across, are emplaced on rhombs of colorless calcite over a matrix of brownish-pink dolomite. The color and texture contrast are remarkable. This is a SUPERB miniature of one of the most classic minerals in the mineral world, probably from the 1970s finds here. The crystals are so sharp they look carved, and you can see why Tsumeb sets the standard for this species. Competition-level miiature, valued $2000
