Item Description

Tsumeb is the most significant mineral locality in the world in terms of the plethora of fine quality minerals it produced, many of which are "best in the world" examples of their respective species. From common minerals or extraordinarily rare material, Tsumeb is the king of mineral localities. Dioptase is at its best in terms of quality from this famous mine, as the color, luster and quality are as it good as it gets. This gorgeous small cabinet features dozens upon dozens of very sharp, lustrous, gemmy, intense / brilliant emerald green trigonal crystals of Dioptase measuring up to1.0 cm sitting on classic white Calcite on matrix. The vast majority of the crystals are undamaged, the only real roughness is along the periphery where the piece was detached from the pocket wall. The crystals are quite gemmy when backlit, and some of the smaller crystals are virtually water-clear. I think we all know that Tsumeb specimens seem to increase in value on a daily basis, especially good Dioptases. A wonderful piece from the most prolific locality in mineral collecting history to add to your collection. Priced in the inventory at $4,500.
