Item Description

A Tsumeb Dioptase of quality is a capstone in any display collection of any size or price range - and you have not seen a good selection of these since the mid 1980s when they came out! This one is an elegant and sculptural piece with gemmy, brilliant green Dioptase crystals perched on an attractive, contrasting white Calcite matrix that is made of vertical growths and clusters (HIGHLY UNUSUAL). Several dozen isolated to lightly grouped crystals averaging 7 mm are attractively strewn all over bright white to slightly creamy white Calcite rhombs 2 to 5 mm in size. It has a very dramatic and three dimensional architecture and is nearly - but not quite - free of damage. There are, up close, some small damages. It is a very three-dimensions with the Dioptase crystals accenting all of the ridges and bumps of the underlying Calcite. It is an aesthetic and nicely composed piece thats sits perfectly for display, and certainly stands out in a case! Fine pieces like this are only getting harder to obtain and higher priced every year. I love them, and stash them away for the future any time they become available.
