Dioptase with Wulfenite (USA classic)

Dioptase from Mammoth-Saint Anthony is a rarity, and seldom do you see pieces of this quality and the rich association of good, orange Wulfenite for contrast! The piece is just blanketed with tiny, lustrous, scintillating, emerald-green Dioptase crystals....on both sides! The less than 1 mm, vibrant Dioptase crystals occur in brilliant, 2 to 3 mm rounded clusters densely covering the front and back of the piece. It is accentuated on the front by a prominent, bright, orange window-pane of Wulfenite 7 mm across and numerous, smaller Wulfenite crystals adorn the piece around the periphery and on the back. Dioptase was common once upon a time from this venerable old deposit, but specimens this rich and beautiful were never plentiful and are now rare. It probably dates to the 1950s or 1960s. This is a rare and fine example with rich coverage. It is an important example of dioptase from a U.S. locale, and many people aren't even aware they exist as they are just so hard to come by.
