Item Description

The Shangbao Mine is one of the premier specimen producers in China, best known for its amazing multi-colored Fluorites. This piece is a striking example of the gorgeous pink Dolomites that came out around 10 years ago. This sculptural and eye-catching display piece is filled with very sharp, well-formed, lustrous (pearly), beautiful pink colored rhombs of Dolomite measuring up to 1.3 cm sitting on a matrix covered in prismatic, colorless Quartz crystals. The piece is crystallized on both sides, and there is no major damage of note, just a few tiny imperfections. Very showy and aesthetic! Valued at $950. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
