Item Description

I have never seen a specimen from the Bergkappe Mine, let alone a piece of this particular material before. Well-defined, hollow pseudomorphs / "casts" of tan-beige Dolomite which have replaced preesciting Galena crystals sitting on a matrix of Quartz. I can't remember seeing a specimen of Dolomite replacing Galena from any German locality, and this is certainly an attractive and eye-catching replacement piece for anybody who collects German minerals or pseudomorphs. RARE material, from this seldom seen locality! Valued at $950. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12389). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
