Item Description

A RARE, surreal doubly terminated, tapered, floater gem topaz crystal from the small one-time 2008 Argentina find. The totally limpid, incredibly glassy crystal has beautiful light pink cognac color and striking totally different terminations. The upper termination is a sharp, jagged chisel ridge with the broader base being composed of a striking myriad of jagged etched termimations. The front has very sharp faces, including a depression where another crystal once lay, but with no damage. This adds pizzazz this outstanding crystal. The back is contacted. Complete all-around and pristine. See the 2009, January-February Mineralogical Record issue for a fine article on this unique find. A sentence from the article says it all: "In three days work we were able to recover approximately two dozen outstanding jewel-like crystals of topaz, most of them doubly terminated "floater" crystals showing attractively irregular, spiky terminations." Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $145, for free. 125 grams mass. Valued at $1000-1500 by me, though I have seen them priced more on the shelf of the dealership which originally brought these out back in 2009. VERY rare.
