Item Description

Mineral specimens are very uncommon from this less well-known area of Sri Lanka. This highly unusual, large, blocky sapphire crystal is doubly terminated. It has typical tapered hexagonal form with moderate luster and is a RARE opaque brown. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a bit of edge wear out-of-sight on the back. A fascinating and rare style of large sapphire from an East Coast collection. Probably older material, but no proof. An unusual and nice addition for a sapphire or locality collector.
