Item Description

A huge sharp and pristine doubly terminated floater vesuvianite crystal from this noted locale, famous for "raspberry" grossular garnets. The blocky lustrous crystal is mostly olive-brown, but glassy golden-brown sections really stand out. The multiple terminations and a few grayish-black grossular dodecahedrons add character. Specimens of this size and quality came out in the 1950s or 60s. Classic and excellent Sierra de Cruces vesuvianite. Ex Renaud Vochten Collection.
