Item Description

Montana Dryhead agates are considered among the finest American agates. Their outstanding dense banded resembles agates from famed Mexico localities, such a Laguna and Coyamito. This striking, large polished half nodule features dense, concentric bands and pretty hues of blue, orange, yellow brown, green and white surrounding an imprssive large sculptural vug lined with botryoidal chalcedony and a wall of drusy chalcedony. A very fine example of the coveted Dryhead agate. The nodule could be cut into 8 5-mm slabs of diminishing size. Ex Kay Robertson Agate Collection with no number. Kay assembled a small sub collection of notable agates. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
