Item Description

A strikingly dramatic large calcite and sphalerite combination from Elmwood and the Raul Madrid Collection. An impressive 9.8 cm, doubly terminated (DT) calcite crystal has a highly desirable gemmy golden-amber termination and complimentary edges. The calcite is aesthetically set in the middle of the piece and flanked by mounds of highly lustrous "rubyjack" sphalerite crystals. Nearly pristine, the very very slight bruise on the calcite tip and bit of basal sphalerite periphery wear are noted, but certainly have only minimal impact to the overall very high quality of this expressive large combination. It displays beautifully without aid and looks great from either side. Valued at $2000-2500 and worth it. This is way beyond the average, and the balance and color contrast of the older style of calcite from here really is contrasting to the pale colors of more modern specimens. It is a cabinet sized, classic, in exceptional quality.
