Item Description

Mineral specimens are rare from this less well-known Viburnum Trend lead-zinc mine compared to the famous nearby Sweetwater and Brushy Creek Mines. This very aesthetic well-composed piece features a 8.3 cm doubly terminated calcite crystal dramatically set on the matrix. The doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent crystal has pretty light amber color and the striking variable stepped-growth faces really accentuate the crystal. The upper termination pristine. The lower termination bifurcates and you don't notice that one end is cleaved. The back side of the crystal has a contact, where another calcite once lay, but there is no damage, per se. The base has been sawed to enhance the dramatic display quality of this excellent piece. Very choice material as even the pillar and stope are known. Ex Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection.
