Item Description

Hanksite is a very rare, hexagonal sulfate carbonate found in lacustrine evaporite deposits. This strikingly symmetrical, doubly terminated, floater crystal is from the Type Locality - Searles Lake in California. The translucent, greenish crystal is complete all-around and pristine. Hanksite is a soluable mineral and most such specimens are coated with mineral oil for protection, as it this piece. If they become dull, recoat with mineral oil for lasting life.
