Item Description

A very sculptural, unusally formed, bi-colored, doubly terminated thumbnail elbaite from the well-known 2000s finds at the Cryo-Genie Mine. The broad flat frosted pinacoidal termination is underlain by a beautiful 5 mm gemmy, pretty variable teal-blue to teal-green section. The unusual pyramidal basal termination is a beautiful indicolite blue. Lepidolite crystals embedded on the broad termination and on prisms faces add color and flair to this very interesting tourmaline. The colors stand out, when the crystal is backlit. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a trivial bit of termination edge wear, which is certainly only a modest detraction to this fine tourmaline from the S. Schwarzinger Collection. 84.15 carats or nearly 17 grams mass.
