Item Description

An ultra exotic and RARE combination from the Otjua Mine of Namibia. A 3.0 cm pristine, bi-colored, doubly terminated tourmaline crystal is dramatically set on the side of a reverse scepter doubly terminated quartz crystal! The tourmaline has a very complex pretty blush-pink pyramidal termination at one end and a dark purple pinacoidal termination at the other end. The back lit photo shows that the gemmy/transucent tourmaline body varies from teal-blue to teal-green to bottle-green. The satin lustre of the well-striated crystal obscures the true gemminess of this fine tourmaline. The tapered translucent quartz crystal has lustrous, frosted faces. The tiny tourmaline crystals and cleavelandite blades attached to the tourmaline and quartz add striking character to this superb and rare piece. The smaller quartz termination is pristine. The other termination has a small ding and a contact where another striated tourmaline once lay, but with no damage, per se. Simply an outstanding and rare tourmaline and quartz from the Shields Flynn Collection dating from the 1970s to early 1990s finds.
