Item Description

A classic and historic piece of the famous Dulcote Agate (sometimes referred to as "England 's Glory", "Mendip Magic-Stone" or "Mendip Potatoes"). Dulcote Agates have some of the most beautiful patterns with wonderful colors and interesting patterns. These are well-known in the Agate collecting community, and it's easy to see why. This sliced and polished piece has a gorgeous pattern with hues ranging from creamy white to reddish tones with various shades in between. It's translucent when backlit and looks beautiful in any light. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff on one of his famous 3x5 index cards that states the piece was acquired at the Phoenix Show in 1983.
