Item Description

Eglestonite is a rare mercury chloride and specimens from ANY worldwide locality are very rare, especially from the famous Type Locality - Terlingua, Texas. Lustrous, yellow-green microcrystals are peppered on the vuggy matrix along with another silvery bright, platy mercury mineral. The very nifty sleigh-like lucite base is worth the price of admission, in itself! Thomas Egleston founded the School of Mines at Columbia University in 1864 and was Professor of Mineralogy and Metallurgy until he retired in 1897. Ex American Museum Collection.
