Item Description

A striking, sculptural and interesting azurite and malachite pseudomorph from recent finds at this now famous mine. First there is a glorious second generation thin layer of "electric-blue" azurite. A revelation is that the bruising to the azurite shows the underlying velvet malachite, that has pseudomorphed the large sharp lozenge-shaped azurite crystals. The dramatic, doubly terminated coated pseudos on the top left and right are, 2.5 and 2.7 cm long. This is fascinating style of azurite and malachite from Milpillas, that shows the multiple episodes of copper oxide deposition here. The bruising in this case, actually enhances this fine specimen and adds much pizzazz and color.
