Item Description

Beraunite, a rare Fe-phosphate, was originally described from this ancient iron and manganese mine, abandoned in 1905. Research proved this to be Eleonorite, an analogue to beraunite and was approved as a new species in 2015. This old mine is the Co-type Locality for the species. Radial aggregates of lustrous reddish-brown prisms richly cover the large matrix. The specimen also includes the contrasting phosphates yellow cacoxenite in a fantastic segmented spray and white wavellite. These species are X-ray confirmed, according to the Renaud Vochten Collection label.
