Item Description

Three rich green colored crystals of old classic Russian Emeralds dating back many decades. The label accompanying this lot states that there are supposed to be four crystals, but one of them sadly was lost. The three specimens in this lot differ from one another in the sense that one of them is a good hexagonal prism with excellent color and gemminess, while another is a small cluster of sharp gemmy crystals and the last specimen is more of a crystal fragment. Minor schist is attached to the crystals, but if you backlight them you can see great internal color. A good set of this old and hard to find material from Russia. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5085). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
