Item Description

Emerald is a RARE Spanish species. The only known deposit, a new roadcut, was discovered in 1968-69 and is now exhausted. The sparkly phlogopite schist contains sections of four hexagonal crystals, up to 3.2 cm in length. The lustrous grass-green crystals are moderately translucent and are embedded with phlogopite scales. Specimens are rare and are very seldom on the market and this is a relatively rich and highly representative example. See the locality article in the November-December, 1997 issue of the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 28, No. 6. Ex Orellana Collection.
